In a defensive battle at Point Loma Nazarene (5-2-1, 0-1-1), the Warriors came away with a 1-1 tie. The game looked to be headed for a scoreless end to regulation, before midfielder Elizabeth Kalama scored in the 85th minute to give the Sea Lions a 1-0 lead.

With 4:12 left , the Warriors would need some heroics to keep from recording their first loss. Senior midfielder Kristi Peich stepped into the roll at 88:55, scoring off an assist from sophomore midfielder Anna Gropp. Neither the Warriors nor the Sea Lions scored in the two overtime periods.

The Sea Lions outshot the Warriors 11-4 (9-4 in regulation), but junior goalkeeper Emalia Cornwell kept the Warriors in the game with 4 saves, including one in the second overtime period.

Westmont will play at Biola on Thursday at 7:00 pm and return to Russ Carr Field for the second game of a men’s/women’s double header against Fresno Pacific on Saturday. The men play at 1:00 p.m. and the women at 3:00 p.m.
