#15 Eagles Outscore Warriors
Submitted by: Ron Smith - October 7th, 2004The Warriors fell to 1-1-1 in league play Thursday evening as the #15 Eagles of Biola (8-0-1, 4-0-0) recorded a 3-1 victory at Al Barbour Field in La Mirada.
Kristi Peich scored the Warriors’ only goal in the 65th minute when she took a pass from Jessica Scheopke and drilled a shot into the net from 25 yards out. The Eagles outshot the Warriors 14-10 while Westmont had five more corner kick opportunities than their opponents. Westmont goalkeeper Emalia Cornwell had five saves on the night.
This was the 20th contest between the two schools and marked the first win for Biola. Westmont now leads the series 17-1-2. In the previous 19 meetings, Biola had scored a total of nine goals and had never scored more than one goal in a game.
Westmont will play return to Russ Carr Field for the second game of a men’s/women’s double header against Fresno Pacific on Saturday. The men play at 1:00 p.m. and the women at 3:00 p.m.
