Jane Wyche scored all three goals for the Warriors in a 3-0 victory over Christian Heritage (8-5-1, 1-5) at Russ Carr Field. The sophomore from Huntington Beach scored all of her goals by heading the ball into the net off crosses on set plays.

The game’s first goal came in the fourth minute when senior Kristi Peich booted a penalty kick from the right side toward Wyche who was waiting on the left side of the goal. At the twelve minute mark, sophomore Anna Gropp lofted a corner kick which Wyche finished for the score. Senior Katie Cates assisted on the final goal in the 78th minute, which also came off a corner kick. Westmont had a nine to one advantage on corner kicks.

The Warriors dominated the game outshooting the visiting Hawks 22-2. Hawk goalkeeper Lindsey Douglass had eight saves on the day. The Warriors split keeper responsibilities between Emalia Cornwell in the first half and Cami West in the second. West recorded the only save for the Warriors.

The Warriors are now 4-1-1 in conference and 7-5-1 overall. Westmont will play at Concordia on Tuesday in what could be adverse weather conditions. Concordia (6-5-1, 5-1) is fresh off a 2-1 upset of #13 California Baptist.

On Saturday, the Warriors will host #2 Azusa Pacific (10-0-1, 6-0) at 3:00 p.m. “This week is huge for us,” said Head Coach Dan Ribbens. “We are getting our injured players back and we are playing better soccer. Now we need to step in and beat the big guys.”
