Westmont Shuts Out Hawks in 2-0 Victory
Submitted by: Ron Smith - October 16th, 2004Patience was the order of the day for the Warriors who secured a 2-0 victory over Christian Heritage. The Warrior’s dominated play in the first half outshooting the Hawks 15-1 and keeping the ball on the offensive end of the field nearly the entire 45 minutes. However, Hawk goalkeeper Jordan Smith recorded six saves to keep the game scoreless until intermission.
The dominance continued in the second half and patience finally paid off twenty-six minutes after the intermission when sopohomore Blake Thompson scored from the right side. Michael Thompson and Carver Peterson set up the score with great passing in front of the net to give Blake the shot. Senior Richie Alcaraz added to the Warrior lead in the 84th minute, heading in a cross from Joe Cover from the left side.
The Warrior’s, who are now 8-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play, will travel to Concordia (6-9, 2-4) on Wednesday before returning to Russ Carr Field to take on #3 Azusa Pacific (12-0-1, 6-0) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
