Westmont Tests #25 Biola
Submitted by: Ron Smith - November 12th, 2004The Warriors started their final homestand of the year by taking on #25 Biola at Murchison Gymnasium. Though the Eagles prevailed in three games, Head Coach Jim Smoot was pleased with the play and intensity of his players. A mishandled ball
In the first game, the Warriors jumped out to a 6-2 lead on the strength of kills by Kelsey Voetman and Allegra Willis. However, Biola pulled even at six and the lead see-sawed back and forth with neither team leading by more than two. After a Westmont timeout with Biola leading 29-28, Voetman drove home a kill to tie the match once more at 29. But a mishandled ball and a kill by Biola’s Katieanne Clarendon gave the Eagles the win at 31-29.
In game two, it was the Eagles jumping out to a early lead (8-3) and the Warrior’s battling back to tie the game at 14. However the Eagles managed to stay a jump ahead of the Warriors and won 30-26. In the third game the Eagles grabbed an 8-4 lead and refused to surrender the advantage, winning 30-22
Kelsey Voetman and Allegra Willis led the Warriors with 13 kills each. Amber Donovan tallied 41 assists and Malinda Reese recorded 28 digs.
The Warriors (6-20, 3-16) will conclude the regular season tomorrow night when they host #23 Vanguard (23-12, 10-9). Game time is 7:00 p.m.
