Alcaraz’ first goal came in the 30th minute of the contest when he dribbled the ball from the right corner to the front of the net for the score. “Sergio [Hernandez] threw in the ball down the line. As soon as I felt the defender on my back trying to poke the ball, I cut inside, saw I had more room and dribbled in [toward the goal]. I cut back because I didn’t have an angle to shoot, then got the shot off and it went in. Sergio played really well today, getting in on the attack and also playing on defense.”

The Warriors took a 1-0 lead into halftime despite being out shot 9-6. Goalkeeper Logan Frank recorded eight saves in the game, six of them in the first half, giving him fifteen saves during the Heritage Club Classic. “Logan was big for us again today getting the shutout,” asserted Alcaraz. “If he gets the shutout, our offense will take care of the rest”.

Alcaraz struck again just over three minutes into the second half, lofting a free kick over a wall of Coyotes and past the keeper. “I knew if I could get the ball over the wall, it would go in,” said Alcaraz.

Fourteen minutes later, the Warriors recorded the third goal when Blake Thompson scored from 10 yards out on the right side off a pass from Hernandez.

Westmont, which improved its record to 1-1-1, will next play against Warner Pacific on Thursday, September 8 at Azusa Pacific. The Warriors’ next home game will be on Monday, September 19, as they take on Notre Dame de Namur.

In the first game of the Heritage Club Classic, Graceland (2-0-1) defeated Fresno Pacific (0-2-2) by a score of 2-0. Mike Myer and Corby Robertson scored for the Yellowjackets with Jason Titus assisting on both goals.
