Westmont women’s basketball coach Kirsten McKnight has announced the signing of 5′ 8″ guard Kerri Reyes of Las Vegas, Nevada and Brittany Crawford of Irvine, California

“Ever since I met Kerry,” said McKnight, “the thing I have been most excited about is her desire to push herself hard enough to succeed at whatever level she is competing. She has a great will to win and drive to succeed and reach her dreams. One of her dreams has been to play basketball in college.”

Reyes played for Calvary Chapel Christian School where she averaged 12 points per game. A first team all-conference selection in her senior, junior and sophomore years, Reyes set the Nevada state single game record by nailing 16 of 16 free throw attempts. She was also named to all-tournament teams at the Holiday Classic in her senior and junior seasons.

“I can’t imagine a better place for college and this new chapter in my life,” said Reyes. “I know I have a lot to learn and I see a role model in Coach McKnight who can help me as a Christian, a student and an athlete. I look forward to new relationships that will last a lifetime and to the experiences of hard work in basketball, academics and faith.”

“I see in her a work ethic, intensity and desire which is able to help a team win a championship,” said McKnight. “That mentality is going to be a great influence on our team.”

Crawford is a 6′ 0″ junior transfer from Irvine Valley Community College who averaged 6.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game this past season. The team captain for both years at Irvine Valley, Crawford was named to the All-Tournament teams in the San Diego Mesa and IVC Tournaments. She also received Scholar-Athlete Award honors this year.

“Brittany brings college experience to the team,” noted Crawford. “She is strong, she’s mobile, and she’s athletic. She is going to be able to fill a void we have had as far as a stronger, taller, bigger post player that can defend and compete with a lot of the great posts that we have in our conference. She will be a great addition to our core of post players.”

Before attending Irvine Valley, Crawford, attended Irvine High School were she was named to the All-Sea View Conference first team and the All-City first team.

Crawford and Reyes bring to five the number of recruits signed by McKnight with one more pending.

“The strengths of this recruiting class fill in a lot of pieces that we needed to bring this program to the next level,” assessed McKnight. “The returnees have worked really hard this off-season and will continue to work in the summer toward achieving the goals we have set. For these recruits to come in and join them in that vision is really great. They bring some different strengths to the core of players who are returning.”
