Westmont men’s and women’s soccer teams find themselves listed in the first regular season NAIA rankings for the 2006 season. The women’s team (3-0) retained its number three status with victories over #13 Simon Frasier of British Columbia (previously #4) and #6 Concordia (Ore.), as well as Oklahoma Baptist.

Martin Methodist (Tenn.) remains at number one in the women’s ratings with Lee (Tenn.) at number two.

The Golden State Athletic Conference can boast five top-25 NAIA women’s teams with Azusa Pacific (#4), Point Loma (#10), California Baptist (18) and Biola (#25) joining the Warriors in the rankings.

Westmont men’s soccer (2-0) earned a number eleven ranking after defeating two pre-season top-ten teams in the Heritage Club Classic. The Warriors posted a 3-1 win over previously # 7 Oklahoma Baptist (now number 23) and a 2-0 shutout against previously #6 Hastings (Neb.) which fell out of the top 25.

The Westmont men will play twice this week, both on the road. On Thursday, the Warriors will play at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 7:00 p.m. and then travel to Redlands for a 3:00 p.m. game on Saturday.

The Lady Warriors have the week off from competition. Their next game will be at home on Thursday, September 14, as part of a men’s and women’s doubleheader against Graceland (Iowa).
