On a warm day in Azusa, Westmont Women’s Soccer (5-5, 2-2) fell to the #2 Cougars of Azusa Pacific (7-1-1, 3-0) in a physical Golden State Athletic Conference game on Tuesday by a score of 0-3.

“Azusa Pacific is a good and athletic team,” acknowledged head coach Rebecca Mouw. “We had our opportunities, but did not finish.”

The Warriors were in the game throughout the first half, down by only one at halftime. Theresa Broad scored in the twenty-eighth minute for the Cougars off a pass from Katie Rorabaugh.

“Roxanne had some key saves for us early in the game,” said Mouw who was pleased with the play of her goalkeeper. “Once you get down to a team that is as strong as APU, it’s hard to fight back.”

The Warriors kept the game to within one goal until Broad scored again at the 66:20 mark after collecting a deflected shot. Lynsey Domene added a third goal for the Cougars in the eighty-fifth minute.

Westmont will return to action on Saturday when the host #5 Point Loma Nazarene in a homecoming game at 3:00 p.m.
