Rasp Named GSAC Player of the Week

Dan Rasp of Westmont was named the Golden State Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 3. Rasp, a 6-6 sophomore forward from Camarillo, led the Warriors to three wins and was named MVP of the 33rd Annual Tom Byron Classic at Westmont.
Against Queen’s (Ontario, Canada) on Monday, December 29, Rasp recorded a double-double consisting of 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Warriors posted a 76-61 win. In the Byron Classic championship game the following night, Rasp scored 10 points and pulled down four boards as the Warriors claimed an 80-38 win.
The third game of the week saw a return to GSAC action for Westmont as the Warriors hosted San Diego Christian. Rasp scored 22 points, making 5 of 7 from the floor and 12 of 16 from the free throw line.
Rasp’s scoring average of 16.2 points per game leads the team as does his 5.1 rebounds per game. He is currently shooting 61.4% from the field which is fifth best in the conference.
Westmont, which has won its last five games, has an overall record of 9-4 and is 3-1 in the GSAC standings. The Warriors will play The Master’s (11-3, 3-1 GSAC) in Santa Clarita on Saturday night.
