Perfect 10-0

September 3rd, 2013

With 11 kills from middle blocker Ciara Turner and eight more from outside hitter Madison Serrano, #16 Westmont Volleyball extended its record to 10-0 with a three-game sweep (25-17, 25-19, 25-22) of Capilano (British Columbia).

“Ciara was putting on a show tonight,” noted Westmont head coach Patti Cook. “It is always fun to have someone catch fire for the home crowd. (Middle blocker) Ciena (Colburn) also made a couple of nice connections. Capilano Coach (Cal) Wohlford commented after the match on the speed of our middles. Ciara and Ciena were reading well on the block and able to get to the pins quite quickly.”

Turner hit .381 while Colburn tallied four kills and four blocks in the contest.

“Madison was solid,” said Cook of Serrano’s efforts. “Anytime you can have an outside hitter receive quite a few sets and hit over .250, you are doing well. So, Madison’s .353 for an outside is very solid.
