Second-ranked Concordia (19-1, 9-0 GSAC) proved to be a too much for #14 Westmont Volleyball (18-6, 4-5) to overcome on Tuesday night in Murchison Gymnasium, despite a valiant effort from the Warriors. The Eagles swept the Warriors in the Golden State Athletic Conference match 25-17, 25-18, 25-14.

“I thought we played with passion for the first two games,” said Westmont head coach Patti Cook. “We started to lose that a little bit in the last two games. I called a timeout and challenged the team to not let another team take away their fire or their heart. I was really proud of how the team finished, fighting to the end.”

Ciara Turner led the Warrior attack with eight kills (.277 attack percentage) while Madison Serrano added another seven kills. Serrano also tallied 30 serve receptions and 16 digs.

“I was really impressed with Madison’s back row play,” said Cook. “She did a great job of digging and passing.”

The Eagles were led by Jessica Israel with 17 kills (.444 attack percentage) and Maddy Ekis with 14 kills (.233 attack percentage).

Westmont continues GSAC play on Saturday when they host San Diego Christian in Murchison Gymnasium at three o’clock.
