Westmont Volleyball Coach Patti Cook has announced the addition of three incoming freshman to her roster for the 2014 season – Taylor Beckman of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Lindsay Paulo of Riverside and Mila Maricic of Harbor City.

“I am thrilled to have this strong group of freshmen joining us,” said Cook. “They are an athletic class who has succeeded on the court and in the classroom and bring a high level of volleyball to an already solid group of returners.

“I know each of them have high expectations for what they want to accomplish during their time here at Westmont,” continued Cook. “They are both highly competitive and personable so I anticipate that they will hit the ground running when they join us in the fall.”

Kolby McInally

Westmont Soccer has announced the signing of Kolby McInally from La Habra High School for the upcoming 2014 season. An All-Freeway League first team selection, McInally scored 12 goals for the Highlanders in his senior season and produced five assists.

“We are delighted to add Kolby to our incoming class,” said Westmont head coach Dave Wolf. “Kolby has worked very hard in all areas of his life to have arrived at this place. He’s a dangerous attacking player, and someone who will torment GSAC defenders. We have known Kolby for almost two years, and we are confident that he will take every advantage of the opportunity to come to Westmont.”

As a member of the Strikers FC Whittier, McInally travelled to Argentina to participate in the 2014 Buenos Aires International Soccer Tournament (BA Cup). The team finished third in the club team tournament.

Becky Collier

Westmont’s Becky Collier, who just completed her freshman year, placed fifth at the USA Track and Field Junior Outdoor Combined Events Championship and in the process set a new school record of 4,988 points. Collier was the only NAIA athlete to compete at the event.

“USA Track & Field has designed the Junior Championship to identify young, up and coming talent at the highest level,” noted Westmont assistant coach Josh Priester. “Becky certainly demonstrated that she is among the top athletes in her age group in the United States.”

Collier improved her previous best point total set at the NAIA National Championships in May by 117 points. The Riverside resident earned NAIA All-American honors at the national championship meet with a fourth place finish.
