Three in a Row for Westmont

Tenth ranked Westmont Women’s Tennis (3-2, 3-1 GSAC) earned their third Golden State Athletic Conference victory when they narrowly defeated San Diego Christian (2-4, 2-2) by a score of 5-4.

In singles play, the Warriors and the Hawks each won three matches. The Warriors were triumphant playing at numbers one, three, and six. At number one, Lauren Stratman defeated Aleksand Emelianova 6-0, 6-2; at number three Haley Strandness defeated Heather Borsos 6-1, 6-2; and at number six, Maria Rivera won by forfeit.

The Hawks prevailed playing at numbers two, four, and five. At number two Broo Jensen-Ferslov defeated Isabel Lee 3-6, 7-5, and 6-4; at number four Nataliya Yamkova defeated Chloe Clement 7-6 (7-5), 6-4; and at number five Mariam Boeta defeated Zarina Huber 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles, the Warriors ultimately won two out of the three matches. Playing at number one, Stratman and Lee swept Emelianova and Yamkova 8-0; at number two, San Diego Christian’s Jensen-Ferslov and Borsos defeated Strandness and Huber 8-4; and at number three, Rivera and Clement won by forfeit.

Coming up, the Warriors will host a non-conference match this Thursday against Brenau (KY.) on the Abbott Tennis Courts at 2:00 p.m.
