In their final game of conference #24 Westmont Men’s Basketball (20-9, 9-7) fell to Menlo (10-19, 4-12) by a score of 79-93.

Westmont and Menlo were neck and neck for the first nine minutes of the first half, until Menlo pulled ahead after a 13-2 run that lasted four and a half minutes. This run gave Menlo an eight point lead (30-22) that they would work to hold on to and improve upon for the remainder of the game. The first half ended with the Warriors down 31-42.

In the second half, the Warriors attempted to chip away at the gap, while Menlo fought to keep their lead in the double figures.

With 4:46 left in the game, the Warriors closed the gap to only seven points when Sean Harmon hit a three-pointer (71-78). However, 30 seconds later, Menlo answered back with a three-pointer by Tyler Evens to recover their previous lead.

There was back-and-forth scoring for the majority of the second half and the Warriors could not seem to harness momentum.

Three Warriors scored in the double figures: Cory Blau led the Warriors led with 31 points, Sean Harmon had 13 points, and Sean McDonnell had 12 points.

The Warriors are now the number five seed in the Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament and will play in the opening round against fourth seeded #15 Arizona Christian (22-7, 10-6) at 7:30 p.m. next Friday at Hope International.

Westmont and Arizona Christian have split their last two games. Westmont defeated the Firestorm in January 85-75 and a month later, the Firestorm defeated the Warriors 97-88.
