#8 Westmont Warriors Down #19 Lewis-Clark State Warriors

Eighth ranked Westmont Women’s Tennis (5-7, 5-1 GSAC) downed #19 Lewis-Clark State College (6-11, 2-1 GSAC) yesterday afternoon when they defeated them by a score of 8-1. With this victory, Westmont ended the Lewis-Clark State Warriors’ four game winning streak.

In singles play, Westmont swept all six matches played. Playing at number one, Lauren Stratman defeated Lauren Lang 6-2, 6-3; at number two, Ines Costamagna defeated Hannah Uhlenkott 6-1, 6-3; at number three, Isabel Lee defeated Stephanie Buckingham 6-4, 2-6, 6-2; at number four, Haley Strandness defeated Deanri Human 6-1, 6-4; at number five, Chloe Clement defeated Anna Rodriguez 7-6, 6-2; and at number six, Fernanda Rivera defeated Jen Roux 6-4, 6-1.

In doubles play, Westmont won two out of the three matches played. Playing at number one, Stratman and Lee improved their record to 8-2 when they defeated Lang and Kianna Arthur 8-1; and at number two, Costamagna and Strandness conquered Uhlenkott and Roux 8-4. At number three, Lewis-Clark State’s Buckingham and Human defeated Rivera and Clement 8-2.

With only three games left in conference play, Westmont is tied with #10 Arizona Christian (13-2, 5-1 GSAC) for first place in the GSAC.

This Saturday, Westmont will travel to El Cajon to play San Diego Christian (3-8, 2-5) at 1:30 p.m.
