Warrior Sports Associates
Striving to succeed in sports, studies, and life
Westmont athletes have won impressive victories, including five national championships and many district and conference titles. While the college emphasizes playing to win, coaches also expect academic achievement from their athletes and encourage them to grow spiritually and personally. As a result, a high percentage of Warrior athletes stay in school and graduate, and a good number win awards for their scholarship.
Westmont offers far more than a highly ranked intercollegiate program and outstanding coaches. Our athletes receive a first-rate liberal arts education from professors deeply committed to the historic Christian faith. Opportunities for learning extend beyond the classroom and the playing field to include outreach to the local community, internships, and a variety of off-campus programs. Participation in athletics teaches discipline and requires students to manage their time effectively so they succeed in their studies as well as in competition. Added to the competencies they learn through the liberal arts curriculum, these experiences prepare athletes for roles as leaders. A number of former Warriors hold positions of leadership as successful coaches and athletic directors at high schools and colleges.
What does it take to continue the quality evident in Westmont’s athletic program? Without support from alumni/ae, parents, and friends, the college couldn’t offer scholarships to talented athletes and continue its winning tradition. More than 80 percent of all Westmont students receive financial aid, and nearly 200 athletes compete on Warrior teams. Your gift to the Warrior Sports Associates helps Westmont recruit promising young men and women who will succeed as athletes, students, and people. You make it possible for them to enjoy the benefits of a Christian liberal arts education. And you help Westmont continue its winning ways.
Warrior Sports is Headed for the Goal
Warrior Sports Associates is part of The Westmont Fund which raises money for annual operating expenses at the college.
Athletes Tell the Real Story
"I wouldn’t trade my Westmont experience for anything. I’m proud to be an alumna and view Westmont as the finest Christian college in the country. My experience with the volleyball team exceeded all my expectations. Two trips to the national tournament, two trips to Hawaii, and of course, the time in Mexico with Potter’s Clay were highlights. What I carry with me more than all that are the relationships with my coaches and teammates and the wonderful friendships formed through Westmont volleyball. As a young Christian, I also found a place where I could learn about my faith and form a distinctly Christian world view."

"My experience at Westmont with Coach Russell Smelley and the track and field and cross country teams was significant. To this day, Russell teaches his athletes that their overall character is tied to their integrity. Westmont prepares people to make their own decisions – it is not a place that dictates to you – it prepares you to go out into the world as a Christian leader."

"I came to Westmont for basketball and a business degree. Little did I know how God would impact my life! One of my fondest memories is the relationships. My coach helped me come to know Christ. His life, character, and interest in me beyond basketball contributed to my meaningful time at the college. I left Westmont a finer, deeper man through interactions with people like my coach and my teammates."
