Special Olympics
The Ensenada Special Olympics takes place in the fall. Students from Westmont can sign up through Potter’s Clay to help out with Special Olympics. It is a very unique trip because Potter’s Clay is not in control of planning the weekend. It is a weekend full of encouraging, cheering, and helping out with other tasks that we are asked to do. Some of the tasks include timing events, guiding participants, handing out refreshments, and being a part of the ceremony. We are there to show support for all of the courageous athletes. Special Olympics is very different from the other trips, Juntos and Potter’s Clay week, but it is a wonderful and unique way to be involved with the Ensenada community.
Another way that we support the participants is through a shoe donation. These shoes are for the athletes in Special Olympics. All donations are greatly appreciated because otherwise many of the athletes will run barefoot. If you have any shoes that you would like to donate, please bring them by the Potter’s Clay office in Kerr Student Center, or put them in the boxes that are in the dorms. Thank you for your support.
