Identity Guide

Every established institution has an identity that exists in the mind of the public. This identity is influenced by all activities of that institution. Therefore, it is important for the institution to project an image consistent with its goals and objectives.

Design has had great influence on identity. A successful design program coordinates all visual aspects of an institution to create a clear, effective visual style that contributes to the desired image.

Coordinated and consistent use of the image creates public awareness of the Westmont College Identity. All the identifying elements, which are carefully defined in this manual, unify the appearance of Westmont.

These guidelines are geared to the Westmont staff, outside advertising agencies, or graphic design houses and others who are producing materials for Westmont. Their purpose is to give users a broad understanding of the graphics program and to clarify the ground rules and standards.

For more information, or when unusual problems arise that may not be covered in this manual, contact the Westmont director of public affairs at (805) 565-6055.
