Fashion show will showcase work of Brazilian lace-makers, MassArt students

Nilda daSilva of Terra Prometida, Brazil, uses techniques brought over with Portuguese settlers centuries ago and embellished by Native Brazilians to create the vibrant colors and intricate design of distinctively Brazilian bobbin lace. A 27-year-old, Annie Doran of Westport, convinced Ms. DaSilva to teach her neighbors how to do bobbin lace. Then she facilitated a program where students and graduates from schools, such as Westmont College, visit the village to experience its culture and art form. more
