He’s a little baby with a big smile, thick black hair, brown eyes and a laugh that his parents have enjoyed from videos of him. A memorial service has been scheduled for Tuesday to celebrate the life of Alex Moore, an assistant kinesiology professor at Westmont College who died May 9 at age 31. In a statement released late Saturday, Westmont media relations manager Scott Craig said the service is planned for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Santa Barbara Community Church, 1002 Cieneguitas Road in Santa Barbara. A reception at the church will follow the service. more

The Westmont College community is mourning the untimely death of Alex Moore, 31, an assistant professor of kinesiology, who died Wednesday at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles from complications following surgery for Crohn’s disease. more

Students Lauded for Servant Leadership

The Westmont Student Life Office awarded 10 outstanding students for their leadership during the past year. The 12th annual David K. Winter Servant Leadership Awards are given each spring to students who show exemplary leadership through service at Westmont and in the community. Each recipient receives $1,000 toward next year’s school expenses. more
