Officially, the exhibition cleverly dubbed “Design Matters” is a public showcase for architects from the Santa Barbara area, and a celebratory forum for the 2012 AIA Santa Barbara Design Awards. Unofficially, the show tells real stories about us, and the changing face of Santa Barbara as we’re growing to know it, project by project, location by location. … And in an inspiring local case of architecture meeting and enfolding art itself, the Westmont College Adams Center for the Arts, designed by Blackbird Architects, David Van Hoy and Pfeiffer Partners, includes a wonderful new art museum, the most significant new contribution to Santa Barbara’s art scene in many years. more
