Local college opens up observatory for eclipse viewing

The fourth and final eclipse of the year takes place this week.
On Thursday, October 23, most of North America will be able to see a partial solar eclipse. The new moon will hide part of the sun from view. The best views will be in the U.S. Northwest and northern Canada. This makes for two solar and two lunar eclipses this year.
If you’re interested in checking it out, Westmont College in Santa Barbara is opening up its observatory to the public for free. The observatory will be open from 2:15 until 5:00 p.m. The peak of the eclipse will be at about 3:30 p.m.Westmont College is located at 955 La Paz Road in Santa Barbara. The observatory is between Russell Carr Field and the track and field/soccer complex. Parking is free. more
