David Winter, the long-serving president of Westmont College who oversaw an era of growth and expansion at the small Christian college, has died at the age of 84.
Winter died Saturday in Santa Barbara as a result of cancer, Westmont announced.
During his administration, the Montecito-based college was pledged what then was thought to be one of the largest donations made to a liberal arts college in America — $75 million. When the donation was announced in 2006, only DePauw University in Indiana had received a larger gift. more
A memorial service will be held Aug. 29 to celebrate the life of Westmont College President Emeritus David Winter, who died of cancer Aug. 15 at age 84.
The service is scheduled for 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Santa Barbara, 21 E. Constance St., the college announced Tuesday. more
Former Westmont College president David K. Winter passed away Saturday at the age of 84.
Dr. Winter served as Westmont president from 1976 to 2001, making him the longest-serving president to date. He briefly returned to Westmont from 2006-07 as interim president and chancellor. more

The Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara is pleased to announce a new joint exhibition by Don and Siu Zimmerman, entitled Then and Now.
An opening reception with the artists will be held Sep. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. The show will continue through Oct. 9.
