Dipsea Race Foundation Dinner: Scholarships awarded to standout high school seniors

Presenters lauded the five high school seniors who were awarded college scholarships at the annual Dipsea Race Foundation dinner Friday night for their performance in the classroom and on the track and trails… Mace, who is headed to Westmont College, began running the Dipsea when she was 7 years old. Biehl has high hopes entering Sunday’s race after posting two fastest-time finishes among high-schoolers in previous contests. more

Providence School in Santa Barbara Graduates 18 High School Seniors

Providence, A Santa Barbara Christian School celebrated the accomplishments of 18 graduates on Friday at First Presbyterian Church, saluting a class with a high degree of participation in arts, athletics and service… Seven students will study at Westmont College. more

156 seniors graduate in Morro Bay — off to college, the military and volunteer service

Two days after more than $181,000 in local scholarships were awarded to Morro Bay High School seniors at the school’s Senior Tribute, 156 graduates were honored at the school’s annual commencement on Thursday… Members of the Class of 2017 will be attending California State University or University of California campuses, as well as private schools such as Stanford University and Westmont College. more

San Marcos High School Crowns Its Class of 2017

San Marcos High School’s seniors celebrated commencement Thursday at Warkentin Stadium, where family and friends packed the stands to cheer on the graduates… Some colleges San Marcos alumni will be attending next year include Santa Barbara City College, UC Santa Barbara, Stanford University, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Westmont College, University of Southern California, Cal Poly, University of Notre Dame, Pitzer College, Santa Clara University, Princeton University, Brown University and MIT.  more

Baylor Graduate Named a Lilly Graduate Fellow

Recent Baylor University graduate Shannon Sandridge, B.A. ’17, who earned her degree as a University Scholar with concentrations in philosophy and German, has been selected to participate in the Lilly Graduate Fellows Program… Sandridge will join two experienced Christian educators – Lisa DeBoer of Westmont College and John Ware of Xavier University in Louisiana – and fellow graduate students from various disciplines in the arts and the humanities to explore the connections of the Christian faith to higher education and to the vocation of Christian educator. more

Decorated CHS athletes move on to college careers

Every spring Claremont High School announces the senior athletes who have received scholarships. And there’s no doubt this is a banner year with 22 students heading into college competition… Kyle Scalmanini, who played varsity basketball all four years and was a consistent top scorer, got a full scholarship to Westmont College. more

For the fifth year in a row, Westmont College Athletics has won the coveted Golden State Athletic Conference All-Sports Award. The award measures the overall regular season success of conference members over a single academic year. more
