Steven Robert Jackson went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2017, following a courageous three-year battle with brain cancer. A private celebration of life will be held in the fall. … He was born on February 17, 1957 in Sacramento to Harry and Lorna Jackson. He grew up in Burbank and graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara in 1979. He spent most of his career working in information technology, retiring from 20 years with the Sacramento Police Department in 2015. He loved cycling, running and doing anything outdoors with his family. more
Linda Anne Lindberg, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away in Santa Barbara on July 14, 2017, at the age of 74. … Linda was born in New York City on June 20, 1943, the daughter of Donald and Barbara Raney. She graduated from Sequoia High School in Redwood City, CA, and from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, earning a B.A. degree in sociology in 1965. more

Collins, a rising senior who pitched better and better as last season went along, felt sick the day before his Area Code tryout at Westmont College in Santa Barbara earlier this month. more

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has cited 10 of Westmont College’s 12 athletic programs as NAIA Scholar Teams. To earn the designation, a team must have a combined grade-point average of at least 3.0 for the past school year. more
Santa Barbara celebrates its Spanish and early California roots in a huge way every August during Old Spanish Days Fiesta, a five-day festival with dance and musical performances, a rodeo and mercados with delectable foods. … Murphy’s parents, Peter and Jennie, visited Santa Barbara in 1904 and became so enamored with the climate and setting that they decided to build a home in Montecito.
