Mustangs Beat San Diego Christian, Win 17th Straight

Returning on Saturday after a 91-69 win over San Diego Christian, The Master’s University men’s basketball team found itself in a markedly better position than it was at this time last season. … The Mustangs will play Westmont College at home on Jan. 20. more

University Will Offer Travel Reimbursement as Highway 101 Remains Closed

Access to the northbound portion of the U.S. Route 101 will remain closed from Oxnard to Santa Barbara until further notice, the California Department of Transportation District 5 announced early Monday afternoon. … Westmont College canceled classes from Jan. 6 through Jan. 12. The campus reopened Monday, Jan. 15, and classes will resume tomorrow. more

The SBCC women’s basketball team entered its Western State Conference North Division opener against Cuesta already facing an uphill battle. … A layup by the Firestorm’s Toni Davis with six seconds left doomed the Warriors to their first Golden State Athletic Conference defeat of the season. Lauren McCoy led Westmont (10-5, 3-1) with 22 points, 10 rebounds and five steals, while Morgan Haskin added 15 points and Joy Krupa 12 points in the loss. more

Arizona Christian Firestorm Grind Out Win Over No. 14 Westmont

Phoenix, AZ- In a game where neither team led by more than eight points, Arizona Christian came back to grind their way to a 70-69 win over #14 Westmont on Saturday afternoon.  Junior Courtney Christmas scored 22 points while Freshman Sierra Stephan added 11 points off the bench. more

Small Cold Spring School Suffers Huge Loss with Deaths of 2 Students in Montecito Flooding

A kindergarten and sixth-grade student at Cold Spring School were among the Montecito residents killed in Tuesday’s massive mudslides and flooding. … Westmont College, at 955 La Paz Road, was undamaged in the storm but evacuated Wednesday since it had no water service and its students live on campus. Classes are to resume Tuesday, spokesman Scott Craig said. more

David Gunn Leads Westmont Past Arizona Christian

David Gunn led four Westmont players in double figures and the Warriors pounded the boards in a 83-72 win at Arizona Christian in a GSAC men’s basketball game on Saturday. Westmont outrebounded the Firestorm 47-31. more
