Lauren McCoy, Joy Krupa and Kirsten Moore Earn GSAC Top Honors

Westmont senior Lauren McCoy was named the Golden State Athletic Conference Basketball Player of the Year and picked up her fourth all-conference honor. Junior Joy Krupa was honored as the GSAC Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-GSAC team. Senior Morgan Haskin was also selected as a member of the All-GSAC team. more

COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Westmont loses Hope in ninth inning

Hope International scored five runs in the ninth inning to break open a tied game and beat Westmont College 11-6 at Russ Carr Field on Tuesday. Third baseman Luke Coffey, a former Dos Pueblos High standout, went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Second baseman Michael Stefanic was 2-for-5 with three runs and an RBI. more

Menlo’s Pagan earns a spot on All-GSAC women’s hoops team

The 25th-ranked Menlo College women’s basketball qualified for the Golden State Athletic Conference playoffs for the first time and began receiving postseason accolades to go along. … Westmont College swept the major awards, with Lauren McCoy taking home Player of the Year honors, Joy Krupa bringing in the Defensive Player of the Year award, and head coach Kirsten Moore being named the conference’s Coach of the Year. more

Donald Eugene Schmucker, 88, died Friday, February 23, 2018, at Village of St. Peters, St. Peters, Missouri. He was born July 9, 1929, in Abbyville, to Jess Paul and Blanche (Walker) Schmucker.
Donald graduated from Abbyville High School in 1947, Moody Bible Institute in 1956, and Westmont College in California in 1958. more
