Westmont gets $750K for building renovation

Westmont College in Santa Barbara has been awarded a $750,000 grant by the Fletcher Jones Foundation to aid in the completion of the second phase of the Whittier Science Building renovation, which includes additional classrooms, laboratories and storage space. more

Landon Boucher Steps Down After Leading San Marcos to CIF Title

Landon Boucher is going out on top. The San Marcos boys basketball coach announced his resignation after leading the Royals to a Channel League title, their first CIF-Southern Section championship and first CIF State Tournament win in program history. … Boucher, who played basketball at Westmont College, said coaching college basketball is in his future. more

Lauren McCoy Carries Westmont Women in NAIA Tournament Opener

In a first-round game of the NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament, senior forward Lauren McCoy showed why she was named a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association NAIA First Team All-American earlier in the week. The senior recorded a double-double in the first half and went on to produce 26 points and 15 rebounds in top-seeded Westmont’s 57-52 victory over eighth-seeded Cumberland of Tennessee. more

Westmont Men Come Up Short in NAIA National Tourney Opener, 74-71

Fourth-seeded Westmont Men’s Basketball fell to Dillard in the first round of the 2018 NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship, 74-71, on Wednesday night in Kansas City. Jerry Karczewski led Westmont’s scoring effort with 19 points to go along with five assists. more

The Westmont men’s basketball team lost in the first round of the NAIA tournament in Kansas City, Mo., to Dillard, a school in Louisiana, 74-71 on Wednesday night. Guard Gerald Karczewski led the Warriors with 19 points, on 7-of-10 shooting, and added five assists. Olisa Nwachie and David Gunn added 16 points apiece. Nwachie added nine rebounds. more

Fire, mudslide, evacuation can’t stop NAIA team

Many local businesses are playing hosts to the NAIA teams competing in Billings this week for the NAIA championship. One of those businesses is City Brew and they said their team made had quite a journey to get to the championship. Westmont College made it through a wildfire, mudslide, and evacuation of their school to make it to the NAIA tournament. more

Boucher steps down as San Marcos boys basketball head coach

KEYT Sports is the first to report that San Marcos High School boys basketball head coach Landon Boucher has stepped down after an historic season. … Boucher, who played at Westmont College, went 88-34 in his four years at San Marcos. His teams never missed the playoffs and never won fewer than 19 games in a season. more
