Rocky volleyball earns academic award again

The Rocky Mountain College volleyball team received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 season. The Battlin’ Bears were one of only 49 NAIA programs to receive the award, which was announced July 29. …Rocky will open against The Masters College, followed by the host Biola, Westmont College and Vanguard University. more

If you sit beside the “Pool” inside the Yellowstone Art Museum, you can hear the ping of water droplets hitting the copper tube drums.

This is a peek into the world of Patrick Zentz, who describes his sculptural work, including “Pool,” as “sitting at an interface between the art and science world.”

… After growing up on a cattle ranch near Laurel, Zentz earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif., then returned to Montana to earn an MFA at the University of Montana. more

Brewers pound Billings behind hot bats, pitching

The Billings Mustangs returned home to Dehler Park eager to put their disappointing road trip and recently ended losing streak behind them. Helena dominated from the start Wednesday when Josh Prince, the league’s stolen-base leader, opened the game with a walk from Mustangs starter Tim Crabbe (0-1), who was making his pro debut. Crabbe, a 14th-round pick from Westmont College, settled in from there. more
