Westmont hires Cappuccilli as women’s soccer coach

Assistant Chantel Cappuccilli has been named the head coach of the Westmont women’s soccer team, Athletic Director Dave Odell announced Thursday.

Cappuccilli has served as an assistant coach under Kristi Kiely for the past two seasons. Kiely resigned last month to take an assistant coach position at the University of Arkansas. more

Heiduk among Westmont soccer recruits

Westmont Men’s Soccer has announced the signing of seven recruits for the Class of 2015. These student-athletes, with an outstanding combined grade-point average of 3.83, will matriculate at Westmont in the fall. All reside in California, four from Southern California, one from the Central Valley, and two from the Bay Area. more

The 2015 All-Golden State Athletic Conference Baseball Team has been released and it includes eight members of the Westmont. In addition, junior right-hander Russell Harmening of Oceanside has repeated as the GSAC Pitcher of the Year and junior first baseman Alex Bush of Menifee has been named the GSAC Player of the Year. more

Westmont’s Adams adds Scholar-Athlete honor to list of accomplishments

Christine Adams has had a tremendous career as a student-athlete at Westmont College. In her four years as a member of the women’s soccer team, she’s played in four NAIA National Tournaments, finished as national runner-up in 2013, won Golden State Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships in 2014. more

TRK: Westmont rules GSAC; women make history

Westmont swept the Golden State Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships this weekend, with both the men’s and women’s teams claiming first place. For the women, it is the first conference championship in school history. For the men, it is their third win in a row. more

TRK: Westmont teams in first at GSAC Championships

After the first day of competition, both Westmont’s men’s and women’s teams have built a sizeable lead in the Golden State Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships. Westmont’s women have scored 100.5 points and hold a 43.5 points lead over Biola with 57 points. Concordia sits in third with 33 points while The Master’s is fourth with 25.

In the men’s competition, Westmont is up 94 to 43 over second place Biola – a 51 point margin. Arizona Christian is currently in third place with 41 points and Vanguard is in fourth with 25. more

WTen: Westmont women tripped up at GSACs

It was a day of upsets at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden as both the number four seed Vanguard defeated the number one seed Arizona Christian and the number three seed Concordia defeated number two seed Westmont. Under the blazing desert sun, Westmont battled all afternoon in a competition that came down to the last two singles matches, but eventually fell 5-3 to the Eagles. more

MTen: Unbeaten Vanguard ousts Westmont

The Westmont men’s tennis Golden State Athletic Conference Tournament run came to an end this morning in the semifinal round as they dropped their final match 5-0 to an undefeated #3 Vanguard University team.

Coming off of a great win against Biola University yesterday, the men were looking for some successful sets this morning as they started off with doubles play. But when you go against a talented, undefeated roster like Vanguard, you truly need the odds to be ever in your favor. more
