The Westmont College Orchestra — fresh from a President’s Day performance at the 2017 Capital Orchestra Festival in Washington, D.C. — plays its Spring Concerts this weekend, conducted by Michael Shasberger, Adams professor of music and worship. Westmont Men Stumble at Vanguard

Shooting just 38.5 percent from the field, NAIA No. 16 Westmont fell to the Lions of Vanguard by a score of 87-72 in a GSAC men’s basketball game on  Tuesday in Costa Mesa… The Warriors (22-6, 10-5 GSAC) made just 25 of 65 shots.Vanguard shot 58.8 percent (30 of 51) from the floor, including 38.5 percent (5 of 13) from three-point range. The Warriors made just 18.5 percent from beyond the arc (5 of 27). more

Westmont Suffers First Baseball Loss of Season

Westmont surrendered three home runs and suffered its first loss of the season, 9-7 against the Thunderbirds of British Columbia (10-1). British Columbia hit a pair of two-run homers and a three-run blast to overcome a 5-0 Westmont lead. more

Storm Closes Highways In and Around Santa Barbara County

Mudslides, flooding and fallen trees caused dozens of road closures throughout Santa Barbara County Friday, and major highways were shut down within a few hours of the heavy rain hitting the Central Coast… Highway 192 was closed Saturday between Coyote Road to Westmont Road because of downed trees and power lines and was expected to stay closed all day, according to Caltrans.  more

Westmont Baseball Off to a 6-0 Start; Robert Ruiz Earns 200th Coaching Victory

In a game that featured a combined 24 hits and 16 runs, NAIA 8th-ranked Westmont Baseball claimed the lion’s share and posted a 9-7 victory over Corban of Oregon (3-4). The victory gives the Warriors a 6-0 record and marks the first time in program history the team has won its first six games. The victory is also the 200th for Westmont head coach Robert Ruiz, whose record improved to 200-164-1 (.549). more

Westmont Takes Two from Oregon’s Corban

A come-from-behind victory in the first game and a sixth-run fourth inning in the second, gave Westmont Baseball what it needed to sweep Corban of Oregon in a doubleheader at Russ Carr Field. Westmont won the opener 4-3 on a bases-loaded ground ball in the ninth before winning the nightcap by a score of 7-1. more

Westmont Women Post Blow-Out Victory

Joy Krupa and Kayla Sato each had a double-double and four other Warriors scored in double-digits to lead NAIA third-ranked Westmont Women’s Basketball to a 107-25 win over Saint Katherine in San Marcos on Saturday. more
