COS Student-Athlete Spotlight: Payton Trimm

Payton Trimm is a sophomore outside hitter on the College of the Sequoias women’s volleyball team and is currently leading the team with 47 kills after four matches.

After COS, Trimm would like to transfer to a California State University school to play volleyball and finish her bachelor’s degree in business marketing.

Trimm, a former Mt. Whitney High standout, completed her freshmen year at Westmont College in Santa Barbara but decided to attend COS because going awayfor college wasn’t quite the right fit for her at that time. more

Kayla Pauline Hernandez graduated on May 6, 2017 from Westmont College in Santa Barbara. Kayla earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business, with a minor in Psychology. Volleyball Player of the Year: Olivia Harden

The turning point of the Exeter Monarchs’ 2016 girls volleyball season came after a stunning home loss to the Central Valley Christian Cavaliers… Hilvers, who played three seasons of college volleyball at NAIA Westmont College in Santa Barbara, was the Monarchs’ third coach in as many years in her first season at the helm, but the Wilson Middle School U.S. history teacher intends to provide a stable presence for next season and beyond. more

Dwight Kenneth Hofer 1933 – 2016

Dwight was born on February 22, 1933 at home in the country near Dinuba, California to Joe and Lydia Hofer who preceded him in death. Dwight went to be with his heavenly Father on June 15, 2016 at the age of 83. … They moved to Santa Barbara where Dwight attended Westmont College for three years graduating in 1958 with a degree in psychology. For one year he and Fayrene were dormitory parents of 30 college students after he graduated. more

Schafer graduated cum laude with a bachelor of arts in religious studies and history atWestmont College in 1998. He earned a master of divinity with an emphasis in Christian formation and discipleship at Fuller Theological Seminary in 2005 and a doctor of ministry, with an emphasis in preaching at Fuller in 2015. more

Teenagers from Visalia and Tulare will compete for the Visalia Teen Idol title Saturday at the Visalia Fox Theatre. Kylie Castro graduated from Exeter High School and will attend Westmont College in the fall. more

Teenagers from Visalia and Tulare will compete for the Visalia Teen Idol title Aug. 9 at the Visalia Fox Theatre. Kylie Castro got her first taste of singing as Dorothy in a production of “The Wiz.” Kylie lives in Three Rivers and works at Reimer’s. She graduated from Exeter High School and will attend Westmont College in the fall. more

Council to interview planning candidates

Visalia City Council members meet to interview three candidates for the Visalia Planning Commission position due to open up when Sam Logan’s term ends this month. One of the candidates, Lindsay Bailey, earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and Spanish in 1999 from Westmont and is an administrative analyst for Self-Help Enterprises in Visalia. more
