On the march to honor vets — Santa Barbara's annual Veterans Day parade steps off at 1 p.m.

Military vehicles will roll down State Street today, with close air support provided in the form of a seven-plane fly-over as Santa Barbara once again shows its pride in its military heroes with a Veteran’s Day parade down State Street. … Wednesday’s observances included “A Musical Tribute to Our Veterans” at the Courthouse Sunken Garden, featuring speeches from local dignitaries and performances from the San Marcos High School combined choruses, the Westmont College Orchestra, singer Fernanda Douglas, the State Street Jazz Band, the Sheriff’s Fife and Drum Corps, a U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard and others; a ceremony at El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park; a dedication ceremony of the Carpinteria High School stadium in honor of the school’s fallen heroes; and a Veterans Day ceremony and barbecue luncheon at the Goleta Valley Community Center. more
