ART REVIEW : Let the Student Art Parade Begin – Variety and invention are the norms in annual exhibition of graduating Westmont Art students' work

That time of year has once again arrived, when art department students go public. The yearly parade began last week at Westmont’s Reynolds Gallery, with the opening of the senior student art show, and continues with shows at Santa Barbara City College and UCSB in the coming weeks. Far from being a generic academic gesture, the results of these shows can be eye-opening in various ways, illuminating for curious viewers and an important, valuable forum for student artists, some of whom will be making their gallery debuts here. more

Clovis West athletes sign letters of intent

Clovis West had nine athletes sign letters of intent, featuring nine-time All-America swimmer and water polo player Tristin Baxter (Arizona State) and state wrestling champion Chris Martinez (San Francisco State). Westmont launches iPhone app

Westmont College is the latest institution to tackle a technological trend — crafting a free iPhone and iPod Touch application that offers updated information about the college and events on campus. In addition to offering news stories and accessing various campus calendars, the app includes a campus map, a directory, dining menus, emergency information and a tracking system that pinpoints the location of college shuttles. more

Westmont College signed a University Advantage Program contract with AT&T, which allows it to offer discounted wireless products and services to students, faculty and staff. more

Red Cross of Ventura County gets new staff

The American Red Cross of Ventura County recently announced the appointment of three new personnel to its staff…Ava Avedissian was hired as the new emergency services coordinator…She is a graduate of Westmont College, where she helped to revise, train and implement emergency plans. more

In an effort to offer a distinct advantage to its students, Westmont College has forged a new relationship with AT&T* by signing a University Advantage Program (UAP) contract and is announcing the availability of a new iPhone(R) application for the college community. The new agreement will provide discounted wireless products and services to students, faculty and staff, while the custom application will provide access to on-and off-campus information. more
