Susan Jackson has joined the board of directors of the Westmont Foundation. Mrs. Jackson is an active volunteer with Crane Country Day School and Cate School. She is also involved with Casa del Hererro and the Garden Club. She graduated from UC Berkeley and earned a master’s degree from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. She is married to Palmer Jackson Jr., chief operating officer for Cogi, a technology start-up he co-founded in 2007. more

Westmont Reverses National Loan Default Trend

While the number of borrowers defaulting on federal student loans has jumped sharply, Westmont is bucking the trend. During the same period, Westmont’s default rate decreased from 1.3 percent to .9 percent in 2009. more

New Volleyball Coach at Westmont

Westmont athletic director Dave Odell has announced that Patti Cook has been named the Westmont Volleyball Head Coach, effective immediately. Cook, a three-time NAIA All-American, graduated from Westmont in 2004. more

Westmont shines in national ranking

U.S. News & World report has ranked Westmont College as one of the top liberal arts schools in the United States. Westmont ranks 90th on a list of 252 liberal arts colleges in the county, according to the publication’s America’s Best Colleges, 2012 edition. It’s the third straight year that Westmont has ranked in the top 100. more

Westmont Soars in U.S. News Rankings

Westmont leaped nine spots in this year’s ranking of the best liberal arts colleges according to U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges, 2012 Edition.” Of the nation’s 252 liberal arts colleges, Westmont finished tied for 90th, its highest ranking as a national liberal arts college.  more

UCSB, Westmont, SBCC Named Among Nation’s Best Schools

This week, Santa Barbara City College was named one of the Top 10 Community Colleges in the country by the Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program, making it the only California school on the list and one of the finalists for the institute’s inaugural search for the country’s number-one community college. Across town in Montecito, Westmont College also picked up honors in the U.S. News ranking as 90th out of 252 liberal arts colleges in the country, coming a month after Forbes magazine listed the Christian school as 76th on its top-colleges list.  more

UCSB, Westmont rank among nation’s best

U.S. News & World Report recently ranked two Santa Barbara higher education institutions — UCSB and Westmont College — in the top tier of the country’s best colleges. UCSB ranked 10th in the report’s annual listing of the “Top 50 Public National Universities” and No. 42 on the list for “Best National Universities.” Westmont tied for 90th out of 252 in the ranking for best liberal arts colleges. more

Monthly Public Telescope Night

Stargazers will enjoy seeing globular clusters, planetary nebulae and open clusters on Friday, Sept. 16, during Westmont’s free monthly viewing of the stars. more
