Herbert A. Tews has been elected to the Channel City Club board of directors. Mr. Tews is vice chair of the Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation and serves on the foundation’s investment and marketing committees. He is also a volunteer in the aquatic therapy program at the hospital. He is vice president of programs for the Cottage Health Systems Volunteer Auxiliary and a board member of Westmont College Foundation. more

Alumna Heather Keaney ’93 is back in Santa Barbara as assistant professor of history at Westmont, but in January she and husband, Jim Wright, venture back to the Middle East to co-lead Westmont in Istanbul. Keaney has spent the past 11 years living and teaching in Cairo at the American University in Cairo and at the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities’ (CCCU’s) Middle East Studies Program (MESP). more

Forbes magazine ranked Westmont 76th among all colleges and universities in the United States. Alex Moore Joins Westmont Faculty

Alex Moore, who joins the Westmont faculty this fall as assistant professor of kinesiology, is no stranger to the college. Moore, a Wheaton College alumnus, was an adjunct instructor at Westmont for both the kinesiology and biology departments from 2004-06. He taught a wide range of classes, including anatomy, tennis, physiology, biochemistry lab and Fit for Life, a freshman wellness class. more
New chemistry professor at Westmont

Michael Everest will join Westmont College as a professor of chemistry in the fall. A Wheaton College alumnus, Dr. Everest earned his doctorate from Stanford University. For the last decade, he taught chemistry at George Fox University, a Westmont news release said. Dr. Everest’s research leans toward the intersection of physics and chemistry. He took a one-year sabbatical at the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas, where he researched the interaction of polarized light with matter, the news release said. more
