Letters: Spirit of season at Westmont festival

What a beautiful way to start the Christmas season by attending the seventh annual Westmont Christmas Festival at the First Presbyterian Church. The festival included three shows featuring the college orchestra and choirs performing Handel’s “Messiah.” Outstanding performance! more

New Cottage Board Members

P. Steven Ainsley, Gregory F. Faulkner and Dr. Elliot Prager have joined the volunteer Board of Directors of the not-for-profit Cottage Health System. … Gregory F. Faulkner is the Managing Partner since 1998 of the law firm Mullen & Henzell LLP in Santa Barbara. … In Santa Barbara, he is currently Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation, and formerly served as a Director on the Boards of the Westmont Foundation, Santa Barbara Zoological Foundation (Vice President), the Hope School District (President), and the Barristers Club of Santa Barbara (President).

ON STAGE: Westmont dancers to perform recital

More than two dozen Westmont College dance students will perform during “Directions,” their fall recital, at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the school’s Porter Theatre, 955 La Paz Road. Tickets cost $7 general admission and $5 for students and seniors. more

Wednesday Night Fire Causes Evacuation at Westmont College

A late night fire forced students to evacuate their homes at Westmont College. Just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, a 20 foot travel trailer caught fire. Westmont College chose to evacuate their students to the gym. more

One person suffers minor injuries in Montecito trailer fire

The Montecito Fire Protection District is investigating the cause of a trailer fire Wednesday night that injured one person. … Montecito Fire did not order any evacuations during the incident, but Westmont College ordered an evacuation of its students. more

Santa Barbara County’s South Coast Under High Wind Warning, with 50 mph Gusts Possible

The National Weather Service upgraded a wind advisory Wednesday evening to a high wind warning for southwestern California. Damaging winds were expected to pound Santa Barbara County’s South Coast through early Friday with gusts to 50 mph possible. … Late Wednesday, Westmont College reported on its Twitter feed that firefighters had contained a house fire north of the campus on La Paz Road in Montecito. more
