Is too thin beautiful? : Eating disorders specialist to speak Monday at Westmont College

During the 1970s, Carolyn Costin was juggling work as a teacher and counselor at Simi Valley High School, along with a private practice as a therapist specializing in adolescents, when she was asked to see a teenage girl hospitalized with “that thing I had.” … Now 57 and a nationally recognized authority on eating disorders, Ms. Costin will be at Westmont College on Monday for a screening of the movie “America the Beautiful 2: The Thin Commandments” and to sign her newly published book, “8 Keys to Recovery From an Eating Disorder” (W.W. Norton & Co., $19.95) that she co-authored with Gwen Schubert Grabb, a former patient who became a psychotherapist specializing in eating disorder treatment and recovery. more
