ART REVIEW: A View From After Art School – A group show at Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum of Art highlights tri-county artists

Groupthink, exhibition-wise, has been the rule at the tail end of the second year in the so-far glorious life of the Westmont Museum of Art, recently redubbed the Westmont Ridley-Tree Museum of Art after the well-known patron stepped in to bump up the game of this inspired new art institution in town. Students win scholarships

Two students from Real Life Church recently picked up college scholarships after winning an essay contest organized by the Valencia church. … “Both students have shown exceptional qualities in leadership and will represent our church and community well in their futures,” Student Ministry Pastor Steve Meyers said. Kimball will attend Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego in the fall, and McMahon will attend Westmont College in Santa Barbara. more

Valley Christian pitcher Sween signs with Westmont

Valley Christian Academy senior Jake Sween signed a national letter of intent to play baseball at Westmont College in Santa Barbara. Sween sustained arm trouble in his junior year and this season suffered from back spasms. That took a bat out of his hands, but on the mound he compiled a 4-2 record with a 2.60 ERA and 50 strikeouts against just eight walks in 35 innings pitched. more
