Motorcycle Crash Victim Identified as Westmont Student: The college’s staff and students hold a special chapel service for Nicholas Dale Davis of Pacific Grove

A 21-year-old man killed earlier this week in a high-speed motorcycle crash in Montecito was identified Thursday as a Westmont College student. Nicholas Dale Davis of Pacific Grove was fatally injured when his motorcycle slammed into a tree around 9 p.m. Tuesday near the college, according to Sgt. Mark Williams of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department. more

Future looks bright for Mexico at Westmont: SANTA YNEZ GRAD WILL HAVE INCREASED ROLE FOR JUNIOR YEAR

Santa Ynez High School’s girls soccer program has become a nice little pipeline for Westmont College Warriors. Even though one former Pirate just used up her final year of eligibility for the Warriors, earning All-American status along the way, another has two years left. She’s planning on making every minute count. Kaci Mexico, a 2011 graduate of Santa Ynez, just wrapped up her sophomore season for the Warriors. Aolani Rueff, a 2009 Santa Ynez grad, just finished her career with the Warriors and was named an NAIA All-American in December. more

Deadly Motorcycle Crash

One man is dead after a fatal motorcycle accident in Montecito near Westmont College according to California Highway Patrol. The collision happened on Cold Springs Road, south of La Paz Road. A 21-year-old man was riding his motorcycle around 9 p.m. Tuesday night and at times, he reached 100 miles per hour. more

Westmont Student Dies in Motorcycle Crash

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department reports the driver of the motorcycle is identified as Nicholas Dale Davis. A school spokesperson said Davis was a Senior at Westmont College majoring in economics and business. The 21-year-old Northern California man was killed after crashing his red Honda motorcycle into a tree just before 9 p.m. Tuesday. more

Sports Highlights: Jan. 9-15

UCSB hosts Long Beach State in a men’s volleyball match tonight (Wed., Jan. 9) at Robertson Gym. Both teams are 2-1 on the season and ranked nationally – Long Beach No. 6 and UCSB No. 9. … Westmont College will memorialize a late professor and husband of women’s basketball coach Kirsten Moore on Saturday with the Alex Moore Classic, a basketball game between the Warrior women and San Diego Christian. more
