Pastor Rick Warren to Speak at Westmont Commencement

Pastor Rick Warren, founder of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest and author of the book The Purpose-Driven Life, will speak at Westmont College’s commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3 on Carr Field.

 President Gayle Beebe will give the Westmont medal to longtime Montecito neighbor Annette Simmons and her late husband, Harold, who died Dec. 28, 2013. more

US Sports Camps Announces Nike Baseball Camps 2014 Return to Summer Camp at Westmont College Read more:

Nike Baseball Camps will once again be hosting camp at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. Camp is scheduled to run July 20-23. 2014. There are two programs offered during this week to ensure each camper is placed in an environment that guarantees their improvement. The high potential program is geared for baseball players, ages 13-18, looking to prepare for their high school season and with possible goals of playing collegiately. The general skills program is intended for baseball players, ages 8-12, looking to improve their skills, while having fun. more

Baik, who played at NAIA power Westmont College, just completed his fourth year at the helm. He had served as an assistant for three years to Don Grant, who now serves as his top assistant. more

POLO | Women Fall to Virginia In USPA National Finals

The men’s polo team went into the USPA National Intercollegiate Championships with a match against top-seeded Westmont College. The Warriors were tough opponents for the Red with quick, back-and-forth play throughout the first half of the match. The starters led the team with senior captain Nik Feldman scoring eight goals, freshman Ignacio Masias with four and junior Nick Stieg with one. Although Cornell put up a fight, the Warriors’ momentum could not be stopped. The match ended with an overall score of 15-14 in Westmont’s favor. more

Westmont Men’s Polo Team Repeats as National Champions

Westmont College has come out first again in the 2014 United States Polo Association’s National Intercollegiate Championships.

The Westmont men’s polo team (Patrick Uretz, David Samaniego, Tony Uretz and Jake Bergman) has won this impressive national title for the second year in a row.

There are four USPA intercollegiate regions in the country, 23 men’s teams and 34 women’s teams. Last month in San Luis Obispo, the Westmont men won their Western Region against Stanford 22-3 in the regional finals, qualifying them for nationals as the No. 1 seed. more

Blood Moon Puts On Rare Show in Night Sky

Westmont is hosting a free public viewing party for the rare event.  It is happening at the Westmont Observatory from t 10:30 p.m. Monday to 2 a.m. Tuesday. more

Mustangs Sweep Doubleheader

The club will take the Easter weekend off before concluding the regular season with a three-game series at Westmont starting on April 25.  The GSAC Tournament, featuring the top four finishers in conference play, starts on May 1. more

Koloa Union Church welcomes new pastor

Koloa Union Church welcomes Rev. Dr. Alan R. Akana as its new minister.

Akana was born in Palo Alto, Calif. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Westmont College and Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary. The focus of his doctoral work was preaching, worship and building community in local congregations. more

TMC Insider: Baseball gets back on track
