Seniors sign National Letters of Intent at Hall of Champions

On Nov. 12 10 Westview seniors signed their National Letters of Intents at the San Diego Hall of Champions during the held ‘Signing Party’. In doing so, they have officially agreed to attend a specific college for at least one year and that college has agreed to provide financial-aid to them as a future student-athlete. … “I think that the NAIA allows students to play a competitive sport, but also have a life set apart from the court or the field,” Macy Gipson (12) said. Gipson will be playing basketball next year for Westmont College. During the recruiting process, larger Division I and II schools scouted Gipson but instead she choose Westmont, which is a much smaller liberal arts college. “I like the intimacy of the school and with NAIA and Westmont, I know I won’t be just a number on campus. I will be a valued student,” Gipson said. “Competing at the NAIA level also gives me the opportunity to go home during breaks and get internships and jobs catered to my specific major.” more
