The Magic of Matcha

Lauren Danson, owner of Mizuba Tea Company, has been a tea fanatic for as long as she can remember. The Santa Barbara native said that her mother would give her a cup of tea before school every morning, and when Danson began attending college at Westmont, she hosted weekly tea parties out of her dorm room. more

The women’s team accumulated 27 points and tied with NCAA Division I school UC Santa Barbara to fall just behind Division I outfit Cal Poly (46.50). The men’s team totaled 19 points, cruising behind Cal State Stanislaus (25) and ahead of Westmont College (13). more

On a windy day at Westmont College, J. Patrick Smith and Lindsay Schwartz won the decathlon and heptathlon at the Sam Adams Combined Events Invitational on Saturday. more

Santa Barbara’s Lindsay Schwartz put up a staggering 5,942 points — the highest point total in the U.S. this year — en route to winning the heptathlon at the Sam Adams Combined Events Invitational at the Westmont College Track on Saturday. more

SAM ADAMS COMBINED EVENTS INVITATIONAL: Locals stand out amongst the stars

While Friday’s Sam Adams Combined Events Invitational at the Westmont College Track featured world champions and Olympians, including decathlon gold medalist and world record holder Ashton Eaton, two locals stood above all. After the completion of the first of two days of competition, Dos Pueblos alum J.P. Patrick leads the decathlon and former UCSB All-American Barbara Nwaba is tops in the heptathlon. more

Chargers’ Buratto deals gem

The Chargers will play again on Monday against Mira Costa at Westmont College. Then it’s down south to USC, where DP will face the top team in the country, Harvard-Westlake, in a non-league showdown. more

The Warriors struck first with two runs in the first inning before Concordia took the lead with a three-run third. But that was it for the visitors, as Westmont (22-14, 13-13 GSAC) put runs across in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings to secure the lead. more

Track team shows well in California

At the Sam Adams Multi held at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif., junior Joslyn Barnes finished with a career day, finishing ninth in the women’s heptathlon. Senior Erica Twiss continued her strong senior campaign, finishing sixth in the women’s heptathlon. Sophomore Reinis Kregers set personal bests in four events over the weekend, most notably finishing second in the decathlon. more
