At Westmont, the baseball program saw several firsts over the past two weeks. They saw the program’s first GSAC sweep with wins over Biola, the program received votes in the coaches poll for the first time and saw Steven Pollex earn his first GSAC player of the week award.
In tennis, the Warriors men’s and women’s programs are in the midst of a good season, with the men ranked fifth in the NAIA and the women ranked 12th. Both teams face Concordia today in an important GSAC showdown. more
The first total lunar eclipse in more than two years will be the focus of a free, public viewing on Monday, April 14 from 10:30 p.m. until 2 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Westmont Observatory.
The special viewing occurs in conjunction with the Santa Barbara Astronomical Unit, whose members bring their own telescopes to Westmont for public use. more
It was the Santa Barbara sports story of 2013: Kirsten Moore leading Westmont College to an NAIA National Championship in women’s basketball. She was able to somehow carry on despite the death of her husband Alex. Less than two months later, she had the couple’s first child and named her Alexis. On Sunday, Moore will be one of twenty-two individuals who will be inducted into the first-ever class of the SB Basketball Court of Champions, a local hall of fame honoring the many talented basketball players and coaches that have spent time in Santa Barbara. more
The University of Redlands pulled off a huge upset on Nov. 21 in a women’s basketball game. Second-ranked George (Ore.) Fox University got surprised by the Lady Bulldogs.
As for the men, watch out for Westmont College. The Warriors handed Cal State San Bernardino a season-opening 97-90 loss in Santa Barbara on Nov. 13 in a clash of NAIA against NCAA Division 2 programs. more
A source told The Register-Guard that Gonzaga’s Kelly Graves is likely the first candidate Oregon’s search committee will target. Other worthy candidates with ties to the program include: Stephanie Norman, a Florence native and former Oregon assistant now at Louisville; and former Oregon players Kirsten (McKnight) Moore (Westmont College head coach) and Jamie Craighead (San Jose State head coach). more
Haddock averaged 12.9 points, 6.2 assists and 37.2 minutes a game. He tied his school single-game record for assists with 14 against Westmont on Nov. 13 and had five double-digit assist games and eight games with at least eight. more
In addition to the luxury hotels, the places subject to bed tax in Montecito are summer programs for Westmont College and Pacifica Graduate Institute. Student housing doesn’t count as transient occupancy, but housing for short-term, non-student summer programs and camps do, Geis said. more

Antoinette Nana Djinou and the French national multi-sport team continued a relatively new, but already strong tradition of Olympians training and competing at the Westmont track. And Nana Djinou did more than just compete and train on Saturday. She won the javelin and set the stadium record for the shot put in another first-place finish at the Westmont Classic Track Meet. The reigning European champion — who finished sixth in the heptathlon at the 2012 London Olympics — is part of a large French contingent that includes Yasmina Omrani and Marisa Dianicito, who train and compete at Westmont. They are all scheduled to return to the Montecito campus for next weekend’s Sam Adams Combined Events Invitational. more
