Men’s Hoops Closes Home Schedule With Brown, Yale

*On February 20, Jok was honored by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) as one of three recipients for its Most Courageous Award, along with Akron men’s basketball operations coordinator Dan Peters and Westmont College women’s basketball coach Kirsten Moore. Dau will receive his award at the USBWA’s honors breakfast during the Final Four in Dallas on Monday, April 7. more

LCHS team plus math competition equals success

Things just added up perfectly earlier this month when four members of La Cañada High School’s Math Team competed and won the top spot at the 27th annual High School Mathematics Competition at Santa Barbara’s Westmont College. more

Bishop Diego (boys Division 5AA) and Santa Barbara High (girls 3AA) will have home games, Bishop playing Saddleback Valley Christian on Friday (Feb. 28) at Westmont College, the Dons girls hosting Yorba Linda on Saturday. more

WBK: Sampson’s 35 carry Westmont past Concordia

Kelsie Sampson put up a career-tying 35 points on Tuesday night in Murchison Gymnasium as #11 Westmont Women’s Basketball (18-8, 9-4 GSAC) recorded an 80-55 Golden State Athletic Conference win over Concordia (11-14, 4-9 GSAC). The senior forward made 14 of 22 attempts from the floor. more

Vaqueros’ walk-off win is super Swede



C.J. Miller”s double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds led the Warriors to a Golden State Athletic Conference victory.

Miller was 12-of-14 from the field in the win, in which the Warriors used a 19-4 run out of the halftime break to put it away.

Jason Ritchey added 10 points and six rebounds in the win for Westmont (16-11, 5-8). more

Sports: High School Soccer Heats Up

Westmont College coach Kirsten Moore led her team to the 2013 NAIA women’s championship while dealing with the worst sort of adversity: the death of her husband, Alex, seven weeks before the birth of their daughter, Alexis. Her story has become a national legend, and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association recently announced that Moore will receive the Pat Summitt Most Courageous Award at the NCAA women’s Final Four on April 6 in Nashville, Tennessee. more

The semifinal game will be played off-campus at Westmont College at 8 p.m. The Bishop Diego gym is being used this weekend for a fundraising event. more

Postseason becomes the measure of success

The Westmont men’s and women’s basketball teams will also be winding down the regular season at home starting today against Concordia and Saturday against Biola. For the women, the Warriors will be looking to fill the arena with pink-clad fans for the Play for Kay cancer awareness day. more
