Liberty Christian pitchers Tyler Duck and Grant Gardner signed national letters of intent to continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level. Duck will play for Texas Tech while Gardner is heading to Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif. more

Westmont College Professor Ken Kihlstrom will be telling his physics students all about the rendezvous with a comet.Kihlstrom called the probe landing a gutsy attempt. He believes it will lead to the discovery of things that could not be learned in other ways.The 10-year journey is also a lesson in patience that he will be sharing with his Westmont College Students in Montecito.He is looking forward to learning more about the solar system from the probe’s landing on the comet more than 300 million miles from Earth. more

IRVINE – In a high energy match, the Westmont women’s volleyball team took a game off of #3 Concordia tonight in Irvine. Despite the eventual loss (25-16, 14-25, 23-25, 23-25), the Warriors put up a fight against a nationally ranked team who has a history of beating down teams in three quick games.
When you are taking the court against a team like Concordia, everything comes down to one thing: defense. It is crucial that the front row puts up a strong, solid block and touches more ball than not. Tonight, the Warriors did just that. With a high block count, they were able to slow down the heavy hitting offense that was continually coming at them. In the second to last match of her collegiate career, senior Ciena Colburn lead the team with six block touches and was closely followed by pin hitter Sydney Striff who earned five. more

For the second Sunday in a row, Westmont Women’s Basketball (2-0) played an exhibition game against a PAC-12 opponent. Today, the Warriors played at Oregon (0-0) and fell 81-44.
The Warriors’ Kristin Karr opened the scoring with a three-point bucket and later added two free throws to give Westmont a 5-2 lead just over two minutes into the opening frame. The Ducks responded with a layup by Jillian Alleyne and a three-pointer by Lexi Bando to take a 7-5 advantage. more
