The public is invited to attend “Bel Canto by Candlelight,” a live professional benefit performance featuring scenes and selections from opera, musical theater and choral music on Saturday, July 18, 2015 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church in Los Olivos. …He is the winner of numerous competitions, honors and grants, including the Igor Gorin Memorial Award, Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition, Leni Fe Bland competition, Ellen Faul Gordon and The Metropolitan Opera Voice Competition. Beginning this fall, Pepperdine University will partner with Westmont College to offer a new two-year, part-time master’s in business administration program through the Pepperdine Graziadio School of Business and Management.
Graziadio School will open its second location in downtown Santa Barbara, at a new center in the Hutton Parker Foundation Building. more

When Bubba Moreno hung up his football cleats at the end of fall, his basketball sneakers at the end of winter and his baseball cleats at the end of spring, he looked towards his collegiate future with athletic uncertainty.
As a three-sport athlete at Turlock High, the senior had options but only one passion: to play football. But despite his heart being on the gridiron, Moreno found himself in a position too perfect to pass up on a path that led to Westmont College’s baseball diamond. more

Kummer, Jr. was a Pennsylvania native who moved his family to California to start a job at Union Bank. …Along the way he was a leader in the PGA of Southern California, a trustee of Pomona College and, after he retired to Santa Barbara, a member of the advisory board at Westmont College. more

The new Monroe Scholars are Noel Hilst of Bainbridge Island, Washington, Bethany Le of Carlsbad, Leal Makaroff of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Olivia Stowell of Fort Collins, Colorado. They earned a combined average honors GPA of 4.5 and an average SAT score of 1530 (out of 1600). more
