Endowment Awards $44M For Religious Programs

Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded $44.5 million in grants to more than 80 private four-year colleges and universities throughout the United States. The funding will help the schools develop high school youth theology institutes.

The endowment says the summer institutes are designed to encourage young people to study theology and examine their faith. The programs are run by faculty, chaplains and local pastors and include in service projects and hands-on ministry experiences. The organization says the institutes will serve students groups as small as 24 and as large as 300. more
