BOOK SIGNING: A Highland High graduate is returning to town this weekend for a book signing for his recently released children’s book, “Baxter Bu’s Epic Beach Day.” Shaun Sturz, who went on to graduate from Westmont College and later became a “manny” for Kenny G’s children, will appear at Amy’s Hallmark on Oswell this Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. Sturz was noted to be the top “manny” in Beverly Hills by Los Angeles Magazine and was cast on ABC Family’s reality show “Beverly Hills Nannies,” where he was one of ten high-class nannies chosen for the series. Sturz was also approached by Brooke Burke of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” to blog for her popular mommy site, modernmom.com, where he gave advice and shared fun stories from his perspective as a male nanny. more

Raised in Santa Rosa, CA, Savage earned her Master of Fine Arts at UCSB and has lived in Santa Barbara for 47 years. A retired Westmont College Professor Emeritus, Savage pursued various forms of media in her early teaching career before focusing on painting. more

Senior forward Kelsey Steck (20 goals) will lead Westmont’s attack against a stout Embry-Riddle defense. The Eagles are 13-3-3. Women’ soccer make Nationals despite loss

Despite a tough loss to Westmont College in the Golden State Athletic Conference Championship game, the Eagles’ regular season mastery was enough to catapult them into the Nationals Tournament. Biola will travel to La Grande, Ore. to take on the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers in the opening round Nov. 21. more

After falling to Westmont in the first set to the tune of 25-18, TMC took the next two frames with identical scores of 25-21. Despite leading Westmont 23-15 in the waning moments of the fourth set, the Warriors managed to produce a 9-1 run, bringing the match to 24-all. However, a kill from Morgan Koch, coupled with a service ace from Aubrey Pyburn, put the match on ice at 3-1. more
